 The Old Man and Time
The moon set upon the sea
cradled by gentle clouds,
and the breeze whispered to it
songs: ones to listen to.
Ivy clung to the house;
and the magical sound of a violin
spread through the air
from the window barely left ajar.
The old man opened his arms wide
and drew close
all that was around him.
With eyes blinded by the bright light
he clenched his hands into a fist.
Upon his gentle, worn face
trembling a tear fell.
Then. . . violently hurling
his cane at the sky
ever more beautiful
and with voice raised in shout
he cried out to Time: Why?
