Carmine Coppola was born in Pompeii, Italy, a town steeped in history and full of vibrant colour.
He spent the golden years of his childhood in his native town where he completed his high school studies. He later entered the Faculty of Geology at the University of Naples. It is during this period that his maternal grandfather, a poet and lyricist, passed on to him his love of poetry.
Coppola's poetry reflects the fiery colour, light, and atmosphere of his native land and captures the essence of life in but a few words.
Coppola affirms of his work, "It doesn't
matter who you are or where you live.
Everyone can relate to my collections of
poems because we've all experienced what I write about: love, youth, aging, expectations, the meaning of Time in our lives…"
The Winnipeg Free Press calls Coppola
"your basic old-fashioned romantic poet -
pure sentiment, pure feeling".
